Overview

Petro Kyrychok is a key figure in the creation of the system of Ukrainian philological education in Crimea. He headed the first Ukrainian-studies department at the Crimean Pedagogical Institute, formed a team of teachers, became the de facto head of the Ukrainian division of the Faculty of History and Philology, and worked in this position from 1955 to 1977. In 1997 he defended his doctoral dissertation in Ukrainian literature, becoming the first person in the history of Simferopol University to earn such an academic degree.

  • Recruitment of personnel: He moved to Crimea from the Kryvyi Rih State Pedagogical Institute, where he worked as an associate professor, in connection with the resolutions of 1954–1955 on the organization of the Ukrainian division at the CPI.
