Chornomornaftohaz¶
The State Joint-Stock Company "Chornomornaftohaz" is a Ukrainian oil and gas company engaged in the exploration and development of oil and gas fields in the waters of the Black and Azov Seas and on the territory of the Crimean Peninsula.
Overview¶
Ukraine invested over 12 billion hryvnias in the development of the material and technical base, offshore drilling platforms, and infrastructure of Chornomornaftohaz. After the start of the russian occupation of Crimea in February–March 2014, the company's property and production assets were illegally seized by the russian federation.
The occupying structures continue the illegal extraction of natural gas on the Black Sea shelf at a rate of about 2 billion cubic meters per year, in particular at the so-called "Odesa" shelf fields, which lie outside the Crimean Peninsula and are the property of Ukraine.
