Leonid Korniyets

Leonid Korniyets was a Soviet statesman, Chairman of the Council of Ministers of the Ukrainian SSR, and head of government commissions for the reconstruction of the south and the organization of the agricultural development of the steppe regions.

Overview

As head of the government of the Ukrainian SSR, Leonid Korniyets supervised the executive branch during the implementation of the largest-scale hydrotechnical and agricultural projects in the south of the republic. He chaired government commissions that dealt with water supply, the reconstruction of destroyed infrastructure, the resettlement of collective farmers from other regions, and the coordination of actions among the various republican ministries.
