Antonina Karpova

Antonina Karpova is a Ukrainian archivist, director of the State Archives of Kherson Oblast, researcher of the history of the Kherson region, and author of popular science works on the Eastern (Crimean) War of 1853–1855.

Overview

As head of the State Archives of Kherson Oblast, Antonina Karpova made a significant contribution to the organisation, preservation and popularisation of the archival collections of the southern Ukrainian region. She is responsible for the publication of the "Archives Library" (Bibliotechka arkhivu) series and is the author of the introductory historical article "In the Front-line Zone" in the newspaper "Naddniprianska Pravda", dedicated to the 150th anniversary of the events of the Crimean War. In her works, A. Karpova covered in detail the role of Kherson Oblast as the closest rear of the army, the participation of local residents and graduates of the nautical school in the defence of Sevastopol, the organisation of hospitals and the sheltering of refugees.
