Andriy Ivanets

Ukrainian historian, Candidate of Historical Sciences, senior research fellow at the Research Institute of Ukrainian Studies. Researcher of the history of Crimea in the twentieth century, the Ukrainian liberation movement, and issues of cultural heritage preservation.

Overview

Andriy Ivanets is a researcher of cultural heritage issues and the military-political history of Crimea. In his publications he analysed russia's use of Crimean monuments to justify the annexation, and also studied the role of the Ukrainian element in Wrangel's army in 1920, the existence of a pro-Ukrainian underground, and proposed honouring the Ukrainian fighters of the anti-Bolshevik movement with blue-and-yellow wreaths off the coast of Sevastopol.
