Dacha Stamboli

Dacha Stamboli is a renowned architectural monument in Feodosia, the former dacha (summer residence) of the tobacco manufacturer of Karaite origin Yosyp Stamboli. The building is one of the city's "calling cards" and is frequently depicted on postcards, postage stamps, and other publications about Feodosia.

Overview

The construction of the dacha lasted four years — from 1910 to 1914. The building was erected on a grand scale with heavy capital investment, costing its owner Yosyp Stamboli 1 million 100 thousand rubles, an enormous sum at the time. The mansion-palace is surrounded by a park with evergreen cypresses, where another architectural monument is also located — the "Gardener's House". The owner lived in the mansion for only three years, since after the Bolshevik coup of 1917 the Stamboli family emigrated to Turkey.
